about

The original concept of this song was just to be about being in a tranquil place where you can forget about your troubles. However, while writing the lyrics, it morphed somewhat into a breakup song, which I rolled with because it added some emotional strength to the song overall. In the end, the song is about trying to forget about problematic people and events at a relaxing place, and that includes a person who was one very special to you.

lyrics

I sit alone on the hilltop,
The sun shining golden amongst the trees,
And I feel a strange sense of stillness
Slowly start to take control of me.
I get away from all the voices
Of the people who will never learn,
The people who've left me forsaken.
I wonder if I should ever return.
Should I return?
Should I return?
Should I return?

I sit for a moment in silence
As I try to empty my crowded mind.
I have to decide what's important
And what I should probably leave behind.
I try to forget all the voices
Of the friends who I know were never true,
But most pressing out of all of them,
I try my best to forget about you.
Forget about you.
Forget about you.
Forget about you.
